Drop the Charges Call-in Scripts
For the October 17, 2018 National Call-in Day
CHAPEL HILL DISTRICT ATTORNEY, JIM WOODALL
I am an Orange/Alamance County resident calling to demand that you drop all charges against all UNC anti-racist protestors. Judge Cabe couldn’t find a reason to sentence Maya Little, and there is no reason to put the rest of the protestors through any more legal proceedings, which cost both time and money.
We and the majority of our community stand with the defendants. We believe that continuing to press charges against them is an indication of your personal and professional support for white supremacy. We will not tolerate this in an elected official.
CHAPEL HILL MAYOR, PAM HEMMINGER
I am a Chapel Hill resident calling to ask you to publicly request that District Attorney Jim Woodall drop the charges against all UNC Silent Sam anti-racist protestors. You need to use your power to stand with these defendants who are risking a great deal to fight against white supremacy in our community, and who are being targeted as a result.
“If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor."
If you refuse to make a public statement in support of these defendants, then I’d like to see you removed from office.
